The short version. We never connect to your bank. We can't see your accounts, your balance or your transactions. Cost of Me only knows what you type into it, and you can export or delete all of it from inside the app at any time.
Who we are
Cost of Me is operated from Melbourne, Australia. If you have a question about your data, email hello@costofme.com.au.
What we collect
- What you log. The categories, purchases, amounts, skipped purchases, challenges, goals and settings you enter. This is the app working as intended.
- Your email address, if you create an account so your history syncs across devices. You can use the app without an account, in which case everything stays on your device.
- Product analytics — anonymous events such as "logged an entry" or "opened the app", used to understand which parts of the app people actually use. We do not send the descriptions or amounts of your purchases to analytics, and we don't capture your IP address.
- Masked session recordings, while the app is new. These show us where people get stuck — taps, scrolls and the shape of a screen — so we can fix it. Every piece of text and every input is masked in your browser before anything is sent, so what we receive shows that you typed something, never what it was. No amounts, no purchase names, no email addresses.
What we don't collect
- Bank or card details. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see your card.
- Your location.
- Your contacts, photos, or anything else on your device.
Where it lives
Account data is stored with Supabase on servers in Sydney, Australia, protected by row-level security so your records are only readable by your account. Without an account, your data stays in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.
Who we share it with
Nobody, other than the services needed to run the app:
- Supabase — database and accounts, hosted in Sydney
- Netlify — hosting
- Stripe — payments. They handle your card; we never see it
- Resend — sign-in emails
- PostHog — product analytics and masked session recording, hosted in the European Union. Named events only; automatic click tracking is switched off. Recordings have all text and inputs masked before they leave your browser
We don't sell data, and we don't run advertising.
Your data is yours
- Export — You → Your data → Export as CSV.
- Delete — You → account → Delete account. This removes your account, everything you've logged and your subscription record from our servers. It can't be undone.

Children
Cost of Me isn't intended for anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app rather than quietly updating this page.
